WhatsApp Rolls Out Message Editing

The world’s most popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp, has announced that it has began rolling out message editing to its 2 billion users. This update will align WhatsApp with competitors like Telegram and Signal who already offer this feature.

Users will be able to edit their messages within a 15-minute window after sending them. To edit a message, users need to long-press the sent message and select the ‘Edit’ option from the drop-down menu.

Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history. As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption.

This feature has started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
